I was hooked at first bite. The flesh was so ripe and juicy, deliciously sweet, with a bag full of about ten I was tempted to go back and get a few more; I’m now sorry I didn’t as no sooner had I tasted them then they were out of season. Luckily enough pink plums and black plums are still in plentiful supply…but those yellow plums….heavenly!
I made the most of them while I had them and made a fair few delicious breakfasts, the first of which was a plum smoothie! Yes I did part with a couple of those yellow plums for the http://keycitytravel.com/cheap-cialis-india sake of the smoothie. I whizzed up a mixture of pink, yellow and black plums along with some banana and a little apple. Combined with some other key smoothie staples and viagra australia topped off with the king of only for you nuts, the pistachio as well as some dried apricots, it was smoothie nothing short of awesome!
The mixture of sweet and tart plums, the creamy almond milk, and the extra hint of sweet tartness from the apple all worked so wonderfully together. I made sure to reserve a little yellow plum for topping off the smoothie bowl
Each weekend The Happy Pear has some new and wonderful fruit for me to try. This week it was red pears which I plan to make pear-fect use of over the course of the week (pun totally intended, shame on me!). Before I even go there though I have a few more plum filled recipes up my sleeve…oats, pancakes, parfait….they are all to get a look in!

Now that I’ve finally purchased Sun Warrior Protein it shall be featuring in a fair few of my smoothies from here on out. I just need to find that winning combination!
Vegan Plumy Smoothie
Servings – 1
Preparation Time – 5 minutes
- 250ml (1 cup) almond milk
- 1/2 small frozen banana
- 3 yellow plums diced*
- 2 black plums diced*
- 2 pink plums diced*
- 1/2 small granny smith apple peeled and diced (approx. 1/3 cup when diced)
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
- 1/2 tsp xanthan gum
- 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tbsp chopped pistachios
- 3 dried apricots diced
- 1/2 black plum sliced finely
- 1/2 yellow plum sliced finely
- Blend together all smoothie ingredients. Serve with toppings strewn on top, bowl highly recommended (it’s more than simply a beverage, make a meal out of it!)
*Plums are about 1 1/4 cup when diced
