Flat Bottomed or Doughnut Peaches! I’ve never had a peach like them! Incredible juicy, sweet and melt in the mouth delicious. I never would have though of peaches as one of my favourite fruits, clearly I just hadn’t had good experiences with them!
What I love about doughnut peaches is the small stone in the centre which makes them even easier to slice and dice. There is nothing worse than a peach or nectarine even with a super huge stone in the centre minimising the edible flesh available around it; they can be so deceptive!
Right now the last of the flat bottoms are sitting on the shelves (if you read that line out of context it would be hilarious…easily amused clearly!) and those that are left are so ripe they require a gentle hand to pick them up and leaning over a sink or at least away from your own body is a necessity due to copious amounts of juicy drippy-ness!
I decided rather than struggle to keep myself clean I’d make the most of their delicious juice and melt in the mouth flesh by whipping up a smoothie I’ve been meaning to make all summer (the peaches never quite made it to the blender, simply far to irresistible!)
I was so glad I managed to hold off on devouring these ones! The smoothie was incredible! The intense peach flavour really shown through; it was incredible clean, fresh and naturally sweet.
I topped it off with some coarsely ground almonds, finely chopped golden raisins and the last few slices of the gorgeous peaches. Delicious!

Doughnut Peach Smoothie
Servings – 1
Preparation Time – 5 minutes
- 330ml (1 1/4 cup) almond milk
- 1 tbsp ground almonds
- 1 small frozen banana
- 1 cup diced doughnut peaches
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp coarsely ground almonds
- 1/2 tbsp finely chopped golden raisins
- 3-4 slices doughnut peach
- Blend together all smoothie ingredients until perfectly smooth.
- Serve topped with almond, raisins and peach!
