Fudgy Paleo Banana Chocolate Protein Popsicles

Cool creamy fudgy chocolate protein popsicles with perfectly dreamy meltability!

The perfect post workout treat…protein, carbs, cold and creamy fudgy loveliness. When you don’t fancy whipping up a smoothie or shake having these on hand ready to grab and go is ideal!

This was actually attempt number too having created an avocado banana free version that were only fit for the recipe testers consumption. The texture and flavour was far from desirable. I opted for banana to sweeten these along with a little honey. If you use a really ripe banana you might be able to even forgo the extra sugar.

I pretty much make one of my single serve protein bars every day. Along with a tub of Coyo, some dark chocolate and handful of nuts, it’s my pre-bed snack game.

I toyed with the idea of coating them in chocolate but honestly plain and simple as they are, they needed nothing more. Totally satisfying.

My urge to dunk them in chocolate was overseen by a stronger desire to keep them from looking shabby. I hate when you coat something in chocolate only to have it either bleed or emit unsightly moisture.

My  previous popsicle attempts were a lot more arduous thanks to a popsicle mould that was SO INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to release your end product from. Some amount of dunking in hot water, squeezing, pushing and prodding went in to getting them out in one piece. And even at that there were quite a few travesties!

I picked up some new moulds last week, a nice cute little size, with easily removable separate plastic shells.  With the sun shining bright this week and temperatures FINALLY rising, I definitely need to go pick myself up some more popsicle sticks so I can whip up another batch ASAP!

What’s your favourite homemade popsicle? I’m not much of an icy popsicle fan favouring those with a little more creaminess to them. I’m thinking strawberries and cream should be my next creation!

Paleo Fudge Protein Pops

Prep Time: 5 minutes + Overnight

Keywords: breakfast snack banana raw cacao powder

Ingredients (5 – 6 popsicles!)

  • 1/2 cup (1 large) ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup (120g) smooth cashew butter
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) full fat coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup (30g) raw cacao powder
  • 2 scoops (60g) Pulsin Whey Protein Isolate
  • 1 tbsp (20g) raw honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder or vanilla extract


Blend together all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Pour into popsicle moulds, insert sticks and place in the freezer to set overnight!

These melt beautifully becoming deliciously fudgy with ease thanks to the high fat content!
