I’m not one to crave liquid food…but this is the second smoothie bowl I’ve post in the last week and it’s all due to the weather! Irish temperatures hitting all time highs means I need a new wardrobe and all the cold food.
I’m pretty much have a preference for cold food all round as is, but a cold creamy smoothie bowl post workout is all my heart desires. If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I’m currently testing out some foods as part of the FODMAP challenge to see if my body is able to digest certain foods now that it’s had a break from them for a bit.
It’s a long and steady process but it means the likes of this smoothie bowl is ok for testing the waters, just not the whole lot in one go! It’s definitely a single portion in most other cases unless you want to have a little mini bowl to stand beside a beautiful pancake stack!
I topped this one with some Irish strawberries, because I’m obsessed, bee pollen, and my favourite alternative granola, Quinoa Crunch. A smoothie bowl just calls for a little crunch on top!
Rather than using my Matcha powder, the expensive stuff that I literally try and ensure lasts me a whole month, I used a bottle of Matcha Now. It was actually sent to me by Pulsin who are working on some joint products with them and I was impressed. You release the matcha from the top of the bottle so that it retains it’s goodness and is freshly mixed with the lightly sweetened water below before drinking it, or in this case using it in a recipe! Super duper handy and a nice twist the mango, banana and avocado base.
Matcha Now Smoothie BowlPrint Recipe
- ½ bottle of Lightly Sweet Matcha Now, 250ml
- ½ cup spinach
- 60g frozen mango
- 60g frozen avocado
- 100g frozen banana
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 15g Pulsin Pea Protein
Blend together all ingredients in a high speed blender. Pour into your vessel of choice, top with fruit, granola, nuts, seeds, or whatever your heart desires!
